Our Calgary Oil & Gas client is seeking a Director, Category Management that is enthusiastic, proactive and motivated.  In this role, you will oversee the development and execution of category strategies to support spend categories.  If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been waiting for, apply below.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new corporate wide policies, practices and associated methodologies
  • Analyze spend report findings and data and make strategic recommendations
  • Gather and provide a current understanding of industry best practices and trends to team members and business partners
  • Manage supplier contracts, governance and control programs to ensure delivery of expectations and comply with corporate policies
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations
  • Conduct market data research, investigate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new innovations, technologies and markets
  • Oversee the development of negotiation strategies and negotiations of high value/risk/complex agreements with key suppliers
  • Implement strategies that positively impact company financial results and growth plans
  • Identify and organize cross functional team resources responsible for Sourcing Strategies
  • Manage and measure cross functional team performance against key business objectives
  • Collaborate with senior functional leaders to establish short-term and long-term business objectives
  • Identify metrics, tools, and processes to optimize sourcing activities and efficiencies and work collaboratively with team members to prioritize and drive implementation
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with a number of our suppliers
  • Oversee the development and negotiation process of key agreements
  • Track initiatives, supplier information and value creation in a central repository for reporting purposes
  • Ensure organizational financial goals are met
  • Provide leadership and expertise on all aspects of the full supply chain lifecycle
  • Proactively take steps to address potential supply chain risks and develop the necessary mitigation strategies
  • Leads RFx process including development, identifying qualified sources of supply, evaluation and normalization of proposals, and awards
  • Draft, negotiate and supervise execution of efficient agreements

Candidate Qualifications

  • University degree or post-secondary degree 
  • MBA or  post graduate degree in business, finance, or related field would be an asset
  • 10+ years of experience in Canadian oil and gas
  • Experience with equipment and service supplies with oil and gas, utilities environment is an asset
  • Strong project management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract and vendor management
  • Excellent relationship building, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
