Program overview: The Other Side Café, a program of Unlimited Potential Community Services, is a restaurant that serves coffee, a daily special and Bubble Tea drinks in Wetaskiwin and has a 2nd Hand Clothing Section in the store. The goal of this program is to provide an environment where adults with mental health challenges can develop job skills and work experience while not being restricted by their limitations.
Position overview: We are looking for individuals who have a passion for working with mental health clients. The successful candidate will provide direction, training and guidance to the clients and keep them on task while completing multiple duties of their own and maintaining cafe standards. The café supervisor will be completing café operational tasks, including menu planning, food preparation and cooking, customer service, cleaning and janitorial, working with money and minimal accounting.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, customs and beliefs;
- Good understanding of cultural differences and how they impact treatment approaches for youth and adults;
- Patience, flexibility and dependability are essential for this role;
- The drive to multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on customer service;
- A positive attitude, a strong work ethic and ability to be a team player;
- Strong client relationship skills (ability to get along with all personality types);
- Friendly, vibrant and sociable personality with an understanding and non-judgemental approach.
Qualifications/Experience: Completed high school diploma, post-secondary education will be a strong asset, with some experience in the food industry is preferred, but not required. Previous experience in restaurant or customer service would be a definite asset.
Other requirements: A clear police information check and intervention record check less than six months old.
Salary/Schedule: Salary range is $17,094.00 - $19,703.00 annually (salary commensurate with education and experience); Shift schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:30pm to 4:30pm. Candidates must be able to work a standard schedule of approx. 80 hours a month; a rotation of every other week.
