The Human Resources Senior Advisor, Total Rewards (Benefits & Wellness) enhances the company's ability to attract and retain employees as a Top Employer by ensuring company Total Rewards (TR) programs and services appeal to all facets of the workforce.
This role is responsible for leading the ongoing development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of company benefits, wellness, recognition and pension programs. This role proactively demonstrates innovative thinking by researching, analyzing and preparing recommendations on the creation and enhancement of TR initiatives and programs. The Human Resources Senior Advisor, Total Rewards (Benefits & Wellness) will partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that TR policies, programs, services and strategies are supported and maintained in a positive and consistent manner throughout the company.
Leads and supports programs and projects to enhance employee value proposition in the areas of recognition, benefits, pension and wellness.
Researches best practices in Total Rewards, and generates recommendations on new and enhanced programs and processes. Monitors trends and engages senior stakeholders to develop buy-in for future program design and enhancements. Conducts needs assessments through focus groups and other means. Conducts analysis into utilization of current programs and recommends enhancements or cost containment strategies.
Ensures employee and management inquiries are responded to, researches information and proactively assesses, evaluates and resolves employee questions and concerns. Enhances the employee value proposition, for example through communications and information sessions.
Develops and delivers cost, activity and metrics reports. Participates in surveys and analyzes survey data, and recommends program changes as a result of leading edge practices.
Manages working relationships with vendors to ensure the efficient and effective administration of programs according to contract. Accountable for vendor service delivery, including integrity of data, and the accurate and timely transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration. Takes a lead role in planning and executing vendor sourcing and implementation and evaluation initiatives.
Keeps apprised of employment laws and regulations in order to ensure compliance. Prepares necessary reports and communications in accordance with reporting and disclosure requirements.
Partners with and supports the other members of the Total Rewards and Human Resources team.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Degree or Diploma in a related discipline supplemented by industry recognized professional courses;
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist or other professional designation in pension and/or benefits preferred;
CHRP designation or working towards designation would be an asset;
4 - 6 years recent, related professional experience in a Benefits capacity;
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated ability to build strong and trusting relationships with managers, employees and peers;
Skilled in conducting needs assessments through interviews, focus groups or informal one on one conversation to understand goals, challenges and possible interventions;
Proven ability to improve and enhance Human Resources processes, programs and solutions that support the business;
Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of human resources;
Possesses initiative and responds on a proactive basis, anticipating needs;
Strong communication and facilitation skills; including excellent customer service;
Ability to use judgment and discretion;
Excellent organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail; project management skills and meets tight time-frames and commitments and is accountable for results;
Strong business acumen with a results oriented focus;
Ability to work independently and within a team environment;
Believes in continuous improvement and driven to question and improve processes, systems, practices as appropriate;
Strong ability to maintain confidentiality; possesses diplomacy and tact;
Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite of software.
