Project Manager

PTAC is an energetic organization committed to helping Canada become a global hydrocarbon energy leader by facilitating innovation, collaborative research and technology development for a resposible hydrocarbon energy industry. Offering flexible hours and a comprehensive benefits package, PTAC is seeking a proactive  Project Manager with excellent communications skills to join our team.  The Project Manager will have an opportunity to network with a variety of people at the forefront of the oil and gas industry, helping launch and manage projects that will have a significant impact on responsible oil and gas development. Reporting directly to the President, theProject Manager will be responsible for:

Project Management

  • Facilitate formation of networks and administer networks to identify and launch new R&D projects
  • Form, direct and manage joint interest projects
  • Oversee the implementation and execution of projects
  • Assist in identifying potential technologies to accelerate the collaborative development and deployment of a slate of transformative technologies
  • Develop budgets and identify funding partners for action plans and projects
  • Establish and facilitate steering committees and sub-committees to ensure deliverables are met
  • Facilitate the creation and dissemination of reports and action plans
  • Facilitate project meetings
  • Monitor project progress, budget, timelines, budget and risks, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction and proactively taking action when necessary
  • Facilitate the approval of project invoices
  • Ensure reporting requirements for projects are met; maintain electronic and paper project records
  • Coordinate communication between the project proponents and committees including meeting preparation such as agendas, materials and meeting minutes 
  • Prepare and submit claims and reports to funders

Facilitation of Steering Committees and Sub-Committees

  • Facilitate steering committee and sub-committees including developing meeting agendas and supporting materials
  • Prepare and disseminate meeting minutes
  • Liaise with stakeholders to collaborate and source relevant information on issues and concerns
  • Provide non-directive leadership to assist the group in the process of information exchange 
  • Execute directives and action items as required or provide assistance to committee members to complete their actions items/directives
  • Conduct research on behalf of committees as required (e.g. source potential stakeholder participants, investigate project funding programs)


Event Management

  • Organize forums, workshops, and Technology Information Sessions
  • Develop invitations and draft agenda with input from committees
  • Assist in identifying and sourcing speakers
  • Establish budgets, negotiate contracts for services and ensure revenue targets are achieved
  • Solicit event sponsorships as appropriate
  • Manage all event related requirements including selection of venue and production of event proceedings
  • Coordinate with other industry associations and groups to promote forums and workshops
  • Plan and implement promotional strategy and activities
  • Facilitate event or liaise with facilitator to ensure event objectives are met


Request for Proposal Facilitation

  • Develop a plan and timeline for Request for Proposal (RFP) process
  • Define and source potential respondents and funders
  • Prepare and distribute RFP materials including guidelines, expression of interest forms and funding agreements
  • Assist with soliciting/leveraging funding and assist in preparing funding submissions to government, funding organizations and corporations
  • Coordinate selection meeting, materials and disseminate outcomes
  • Communicate with RFP proponents on the results of their submission


Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Member Relations

  • Assist with growing membership revenue by identifying potential new members, and communicating the value of membership in PTAC to existing and potential members, including opportunities to participate in projects, networks and other initiatives and availability of seed funding for projects
  • Promote PTAC and its objectives with key stakeholders including industry, associations, and governments
  • Manage relationships with members and potential members, and promote opportunities for participation in PTAC projects, events, and initiatives
  • Conduct marketing, stakeholder awareness and public relations activities
  • Recruit new PTAC members and assist in retaining existing members, Represent and promote PTAC services to existing and potential members at appropriate events
  • Establish and ensure the continuation of positive and effective professional relationships with relevant government representatives, regulators, and funders
  • Ensure all relevant information relating to R&D projects is kept current on PTAC’s website
  • Assist with production of Annual Report
  • Review, and edit marketing materials and publications as required
  • Conduct marketing, stakeholder awareness and public relations activities
  • Administer member surveys
  • Respond to requests to complete and submit external surveys as appropriate

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills working with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience and knowledge of the oil and gas sector
  • Post-secondary education., Engineering degree, and formal training in facilitation, experience in contract negation and/or project management are assets
