Huckleberry Mines is an open pit copper/molybdenum mine located approximately 130 km due south of Smithers in west central British Columbia. The mine started commercial production in October 1997. An aggressive exploration program has been ongoing on the mine property and has identified ore reserves to take the mine life to 2021. Huckleberry Mines is owned and operated by Huckleberry Mines which is a British Columbia company owned by a consortium of Japanese companies (Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Dowa Mining Co., Furukawa Co., and Marubeni Co) and Imperial Metals Corporation.About the Opportunity
You will play a pivotal role in directing our multi-disciplined team of maintenance personnel. Reporting to the Assistant Mill Superintendent, you will plan jobs and supervise trades personnel in the maintenance and repair of a 19,000 tonne per day copper mineral processing plant. You will also repair and maintain a 250 person camp and mine site buildings and infrastructure. Ensuring all safety procedures and policies are followed at all times, you will:
- Ensure the availability of all of the mill equipment for production;
- Coordinate maintenance functions within the mill with mill and mine operations; and
- Maintain cost control.
Along with a Journeyman Millwright Trade Qualification, you have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience directing maintenance crews and the capacity to promote a team atmosphere at all times. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to regularly liaise with other maintenance sections as well as operations. Strong computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office, CMMS programs and Preventive Maintenance programs are essential, as are excellent time management and organizational skills.About the Benefits
Huckleberry Mines is a remote mine where its employees live in a camp environment on their days of work. The work schedule for this position is 4 fours on, 3 day off (Monday to Thursday) . Transportation will be provided to and from the mine from Houston and Smithers. All meals and accommodations will be provided free of charge to employees while on the mine site.
