Safety Officer (Corporate)
Duties and Responsibilities
§ Leadership in promoting and fostering the development of a world-class safety culture.
§ Promote and maintain a positive work environment for all employees
§ Track and maintain EHS statistics and documentation
§ Know and apply the company’s safety policy and relevant sections of the OHS Legislation.
§ Ensure adherence to and implementation of the HSE program at each location.
§ Regularly communicate to staff on health and safety issues through Safety Meetings, meetings (chair or co-chair) and lead worksite inspections / observation tours.
§ Educate and train employees in the area of health and safety in the workplace.
§ Create buy-in from employees towards reporting of incidents and encourage near miss reporting
§ Aid in the completion of internal safety audits and to preparing for external safety audits.
§ Assist in facilitating the injury management programs.
§ Coordinate and ensure Health & Safety Program orientation is provided to new employees
§ Assist in the arrangement of medical (including transportation) as required in case of injury or illness.
§ To investigate all incidents, and to advise management on appropriate corrective actions.
§ Participate in the hazard assessment development and review processes

§ Valid Class 5 Drivers license (travel within the region will be required)

§ Experience in managing and auditing H&S management systems
§ Knowledgeable with Workers Compensation and Return to Work programs
§ Strong knowledge of provincial and federal safety regulations
§ 2-5 years in a safety professional role or related experience
§ Graduate of OHS certificate program or equivalent
§ Internal and External incident investigation
§ Safety Auditor training
§ Strong computer skills (MS office suite)
