Interior Health is currently seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Kelowna General Hospital.

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with departmental policies. Duties include preparing patients for examination, operating nuclear medicine equipment, monitoring patient during procedures, preparing, dispensing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, performing routine quality control tests on imaging equipment, monitoring area utilizing appropriate detection devices and disposing of radioactive substances and contaminated items by following established guidelines.

The Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is in the Okanagan health service area and is one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals. Located in Kelowna, KGH offers high-level, specialty medical care including 24 hour emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic/paramedical services. Specialty services include adult and adolescent psychiatry, outpatient nutrition, patient care quality officers, and cardiac surgery. This tertiary facility also has its own radio pharmacy.

This is a part time (0.50 FTE) relief position until the return of the incumbent (anticipated in December 2018). Schedule is day shift, with varying start and stop times, and includes a rotation of weekend on-call (works out to be approximately every 8th week on-call). There is also opportunity to pick up additional casual shifts.

Qualifications

  • S uccessful completion of a Nuclear Medicine Technology program recognized by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Current certification with CAMRT.
