We are currently looking for an Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance Department.  Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accountant’s primary role is to perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of all account receivables and sales conveyancing duties.

Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Review and manage customer sales documents/files  to ensure all necessary documentation is complete (copying/filing/confidential storage)
  • Update and maintain sales database for sales, customer deposits, upgrades, transfers, and funds received from lawyers
  • Administer all legal documents associated with sales contracts (land titles, transfers, addendums etc.)
  • Reconciliation and tracking of  all funds received from the lawyer, obtain all necessary President/designee approval
  • Prepare Final Sales Summaries (Invoices) provided for distribution to clients, sales department, and lawyers
  • Reconciliation of property tax and other adjustments related to final statement of adjustments and preparation of correspondence with customers for adjustments
  • Manage billing and accounts receivable by preparing entries to record revenue and AR adjustments as required
  • Review and track sales commissions related to outside realtors, area sales managers and referrals
  • Prepare daily deposits and complete bank runs as needed
  • Examine, analyze, and reconcile accounting and financial records as well as supporting documents such as bank statements, expense reports, loan statements etc.
  • Prepare, submit, process and reconcile T5018, GST collected, Housing Rebate, and ITC’s paid per mandated external timeframes
  • Set up new vendors in the Timberline accounting system
  • Maintain and update vendor’s liability insurance compliance ,addressees, and banking information
  • Provide vacation and back-up support for Accounts Payable Administrator on an as needed basis
  • General accounting duties as requested

Skills and Requirements:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in accounting/finance or relevant years of experience
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in a high volume accounting position (preference will be given to those with previous accounting experience in the multi-family construction industry)
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Previous experience with Timberline (Sage 300) accounting software
  • Proficient problem solving, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven analytical abilities (able to troubleshoot both basic and complex problems by making decisions and/or offering sensible solutions)
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to adjust and work with various personality types
