 What you’ll do:

You will oversee and lead a technical team in the development and management of engineering programs to ensure the mechanical integrity of equipment across the refinery is maintained at an acceptable risk level. You will develop and oversee Asset Care Strategies (ACS) and manage highly complex and specialized Equipment Integrity Programs to ensure high reliability and mechanical availability of pressure and non-pressure equipment. You will utilize both regulatory requirements and industry best practice including ASME code and API guidelines such as Risk Based Inspection (RBI) to evaluate complex and specialized operational situations and specify appropriate inspection techniques in the ACS to detect a wide variety of damage mechanisms. 

Some key responsibilities include:

 Initiating & Executing work via ACS (Develop Tactics):

·         You will lead the creation and guidance of others in the development inspection tactics documented in Asset Care Strategies (ACS) utilizing advanced and specialized methodology including Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), API guidelines, industry best practice, regulatory requirements, adherence to CRC’s QMS and analysis of historical information.

·         You will be an advanced user of tools such as RBI and associated software, and have knowledge of applicable refining damage mechanisms (API 571) to specify inspection techniques, inspection locations, frequencies, and strategies best suited to detect expected damage mechanism.


Review Results & Analyze (Validate Tactics):

·         You will lead the evaluation of the results of the activities prescribed in the Asset Care Strategy/ITP for effectiveness. This includes analysis of highly technical information, completion of complex engineering evaluations, preparation of highly technical reports, and determination of appropriate recommendations.

·         Review of Results and Reporting: Results of the inspection will be received by the EI Engineer who will review the results, and if required complete basic fitness for service and asset evaluations.

·         Validation of Asset Care Strategy: The EI engineer will take the final results and validate the ACS through updates to RBI, RCM, and ITPs including inspection methods and frequencies.

·         Update Asset Care Strategy: Following inspection and validation of ACS, the EI engineer will update the Asset Management System for reporting including metrics for internal use and reporting to the applicable jurisdictional authority.

 

Develop programs:

·         You will develop specialized and highly complex Equipment Integrity Programs based on regulatory/code requirements and industry best practice. Programs are to be tailored to align with CRC work flows and work management systems including maintenance management.

·         You will manage the implementation and direction of Equipment Integrity Programs including the roll out to the facility which may include working with Learning and Development.

 

Lead others:

·         You will provide performance management to a team of Equipment Integrity Engineers, Technologists and contractors including ensuring staff is held accountable to complete tasks on-time with sufficient quality; providing coaching and feedback; providing guidance and mentorship; and creation of professional development plans for each member of the group by combining their personal aspirations and the needs of the organization.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Engineering & Engineering Technology and:

·         You have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized institution with preference for the mechanical, industrial, or metallurgical related disciplines.

·         You have a minimum of 8 years of combined engineering experience, preferably in the petrochemical/refining industry (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.)

·         You’re registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or AScT. National Board (Sask PEI Level 1), API 510, API 570, and API 571, or MMP designations are considered an asset.

·         You’re honest and trustworthy, are results oriented and strive to be the best in what you do.

·         You believe in collaboration, building relationships and value the perspectives of others.
