What Triathlon Alberta is Hiring for:

Assistant Race Director / Participant Orientation Specialist (ARD)

Great resume builder opportunity for a short-term and fun position in a positive environment!

OVERVIEW

Triathlon Alberta (TA), is looking to staff several key positions for an athletic event planned for the summer of 2021.  These events take place on Wednesday evenings at Calgary's Glenmore Athletic Park facility and the Argyll Velodrome in Edmonton.  The Calgary events make use of the Glenmore pool area, parks surrounding the Glenmore Athletic Park, and the scenic elbow river pathway system above Sandy Beach Park.

This Calgary series will attract both Team Alberta High Performance and Development athletes as well as offerings to the general public at a nominal cost.  Public offerings are targeted at age group beginners, as well as intermediate athletes.  These events will offer Calgarians (aged 12+) an inclusive outdoor recreation opportunity, with a chance to discover or try out the sport of triathlon at a small event with a capacity of under 72 persons.

PURPOSE

Triathlon Alberta-led events are meant to encourage increased participation in triathlon and multisport events.  These events are an aerobic sport training opportunity that adds to the health and wellbeing of Albertans.  Social interaction ranks as one of the most valued components of sport participation among youth and adult participants.  Provincial Sport Organisation-led mini-series events are a safe and fun way for Albertans to connect and enjoy both the health benefits of cardiovascular exercise and a collegiate atmosphere with other athletes in a low-pressure fun racing environment.

NOTE: There may be an additional opportunity in Edmonton in September 2021, however, this is not a requirement of this job posting and can be discussed with applicants as an option at the time of hiring.
